How the Scrabble Word Finder Works

Enter up to 15 tiles — including up to two blank tiles represented by ? — and the finder checks every possible combination against the ENABLE word list. Results are sorted by Scrabble point value (face-value tile sum) so the highest-scoring candidates appear first.

Advanced options can exclude rack letters, set exact or ranged lengths, require letter counts, or apply a board pattern such as c??t. Fixed pattern letters represent tiles already on the board and do not consume your rack. Copy the share link to preserve the complete search.

About the ENABLE Dictionary

ENABLE (Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon) is a public-domain general English word list. It is useful for generating candidates, but it is not an official Scrabble dictionary and does not make a word tournament-legal. Confirm disputed words with the dictionary required by your game, club, or tournament.

Scrabble Scoring Explained

Each tile in Scrabble carries a face-value point score. The scores shown in this tool are the raw tile values — they do not include board multipliers (Double Letter, Triple Word, etc.). On a real board, placement matters as much as the word itself.

High-value tiles to watch for:

  • Q, Z — 10 points each
  • J, X — 8 points each
  • K — 5 points
  • F, H, V, W, Y — 4 points each

Scrabble Strategy Tips

  • Use all 7 tiles for a bingo: An accepted play using all seven rack tiles earns a 50-point bonus. Keep an eye on common 7-letter words.
  • Hook onto existing words: Adding a letter to an existing word (like adding S to make a plural) often opens more scoring opportunities than playing a fresh word.
  • Keep a balanced rack: Avoid holding too many vowels or consonants. A mix of 2–3 vowels and 4–5 consonants gives you the most flexibility.
  • Save S and blanks: These are your most flexible tiles — use them for big scoring plays rather than small ones.
