What Is the Daily Jumble?

The Daily Jumble is a word puzzle that has appeared in newspapers since 1954. Each puzzle presents four scrambled words. After solving each one, certain letters are circled — and those circled letters must be rearranged to reveal the final answer to a cartoon caption.

How to Use the Jumble Solver

1. Find a scrambled word in today's Jumble puzzle.
2. Type those letters into the box above (order doesn't matter).
3. Scan the results — the Jumble answer is typically the most common word of that length.
4. Use Advanced Options to filter by starting or ending letter if you already know part of the word.
5. Repeat for each scrambled word in the puzzle.

For the final caption answer, gather the circled letters from each solved word and enter them into our Anagram Solver to find the punchline.

Tips for Solving Jumbles Faster

• Look for common letter patterns: English words often end in -ing, -tion, -er, -ly, or -ed. Try mentally placing these suffixes first.
• Find the vowels: Most words have a vowel every 2–3 letters. Identify your vowels and see how they might cluster.
• Start with short words: 4-letter Jumble words have fewer possible arrangements, so they're usually quicker to solve by hand.
• Use the Advanced Options filter: If you know the word starts with a particular letter from the puzzle's illustration or clue, use the "Starts with" filter to narrow results dramatically.
